PAINT PROTECTION

Professional Ceramic Coating Is Not Wax. It's an Entirely Different Animal.

Most people think ceramic coating is just a better wax. It is not. Wax sits on the surface temporarily and wears away. NanoPro Borograph chemically bonds to the paint and cures into a durable protective layer that remains there for years.

That is not an upgrade to wax. It is a different type of protection entirely.

NanoPro Borograph is manufactured in Boynton Beach, Florida and formulated for the UV, heat, and humidity vehicles encounter year round. It is not a retail product. It is applied by certified installers following a specific process.

I am a NanoPro Certified Expert. Every application I do follows those standards and starts with proper paint correction. The coating is applied onto a surface that is actually ready for it. That process takes 7 to 9 hours. Here is why.

I work on classic, collector, performance, and new vehicles throughout Pinellas County and Tampa Bay where the condition of the paint actually matters to the owner.

BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE

Paint Correction First. No Exceptions.

Ceramic coating bonds to whatever surface it is applied to. If spider webbing, swirl marks, oxidation, or scratches are in the paint when the coating goes on, they are permanently underneath it when it cures. The coating does not remove them. It seals them in. I have seen vehicles where this happened. Fixing it means removing the coating, starting correction over, and reapplying. That is an expensive mistake that does not have to happen if the work is done right the first time.

Every vehicle I work on is assessed, measured for paint thickness, compounded, and polished before NanoPro Borograph is applied. The paint has to be right before the coating touches it. That is the sequence and there is no version of this service where that changes.

For classic vehicles with single-stage lacquer or enamel, the paint correction process is different than it is for modern clear coat systems. Different compounds, different machine settings, different pressure. I have corrected both systems extensively. Every classic gets assessed individually before anything touches the paint.

CLASSIC & COLLECTOR VEHICLES

Single-Stage Paint Ceramic Coating for Classic Vehicles

Most detailers have only worked on modern clear coat systems. They apply the same correction process to every vehicle regardless of paint type. On a modern vehicle with base coat and clear coat, that approach is acceptable. On a classic with original single-stage lacquer or enamel, it is wrong. The damage it causes is permanent.

In a single-stage system, the color and the gloss exist in the same layer of paint. There is no clear coat on top of the surface protecting the color. Correction applied too aggressively removes pigment that cannot be put back. Original paint on a fifty-year-old classic is not the same as a modern respray. Once that pigment is gone, it is gone.

Every classic I work on is measured and assessed before I touch it. Paint thickness across panels. What the paint system is. What it has been through and what it will tolerate. The NanoPro Borograph application is the same regardless of paint system. The correction and preparation before it is what changes. And the preparation is where most people get it wrong.

If you own a classic with original paint, ask any detailer you are considering to explain the difference between
single-stage paint correction and modern clear coat correction before they touch your vehicle. If they cannot explain it clearly, find someone who can.

DEALER CERAMIC COATING VS PROFESSIONAL APPLICATION

Why Dealer Ceramic Coating Is Not the Same Service

Most dealerships apply ceramic coating the same day you take delivery. The paint has never been corrected. Whatever is in it, swirl marks, spider webbing, transport damage, light scratches from lot handling, gets sealed in permanently the moment that coating cures.

The issue is not just the coating. It is how it is being applied and what it is being applied over.

New car paint is soft. It comes off the assembly line that way and takes weeks to fully harden. During that period the vehicle is transported, handled, and sits outside in Florida sun and humidity. Lot attendants wipe it down, move it around, and touch it repeatedly. Every one of those contact points introduces defects into paint when it is at its most vulnerable state.

By the time you take delivery, the paint can look presentable under showroom lighting and already have damage. I can identify paint defects in virtually every new vehicle before correction begins.

Dealer coatings are not NanoPro Borograph. The product, the preparation, and the result are not comparable.

I correct the paint first. Every time. Then NanoPro LPF or NanoPro Borograph is applied over a surface that is actually ready for it. If your vehicle already has a dealer coating on it, it can usually be removed, the paint corrected properly, and the coating applied the way it should have been done the first time.

If you want a quick add on at delivery, I am not the right call. I work on vehicles where the condition of the paint actually matters.

PROTECTION PATHS

Ceramic Coating and Paint Protection Options for High Value Vehicles

Once the paint is corrected, there are two ways I protect it. The right choice depends on the vehicle, how it is used, and how much protection you want beyond the coating itself.

Paint Correction + NanoPro Borograph Ceramic Coating

NanoPro Borograph is applied directly over corrected paint. It provides long-term UV protection, easier maintenance, gloss, chemical resistance, and a 10-year manufacturer warranty. This is the right choice for owners who want professional ceramic coating without adding a physical film layer to the vehicle

Paint Correction + NanoPro LPF + NanoPro Borograph Ceramic Coating (Permanent Status)

NanoPro LPF is applied first over corrected paint in the high-impact areas, or across the entire vehicle when full-vehicle protection is the goal. The LPF cures into a seamless solid-state film with no seams, no cut lines, and no visible panel edges. NanoPro Borograph is then applied over the cured LPF.

This complete system qualifies for NanoPro Permanent Status, activates both 10-year manufacturer warranties, and registers the installation on the vehicle CARFAX report. It is the highest level of protection I offer and is intended for classic, collector, performance, restomod, and high-value vehicles where preserving the appearance matters as much as protecting it.

LPF is also available for full vehicle coverage. For a classic, show car, or high-value collector vehicle where seamless protection across every panel matters, the complete system delivers results that individual panel coverage cannot. Every body line, every curve, every surface protected without a seam in sight. LPF is not mandatory for every vehicle. That said, when it is the right fit, there is nothing else on the market that does what this system does.

PROTECTION THAT IS RECORDED AND VERIFIABLE

Permanent Status Paint Protection System

When NanoPro Borograph is applied over fully cured NanoPro LPF, the installation qualifies for Permanent Status under the NanoPro system. That installation is registered on the vehicle CARFAX report. The record shows the work performed, the products used, the installer, and the date.

That record stays with the vehicle when ownership changes. It becomes part of the vehicle's history, not just temporary service. For a classic or collector vehicle, that documentation is part of what the protection is actually worth. Anyone who looks at that vehicle down the road sees exactly what was done and who did it. Both the NanoPro LPF and NanoPro Borograph carry independent 10-year manufacturer warranties when applied correctly by a certified installer.

  • NanoPro LPF + NanoPro Borograph = Permanent Status
  • CARFAX registration of installation, products, installer, and date
  • NanoPro Borograph: 10-year manufacturer warranty
  • NanoPro LPF + NanoPro Borograph system: qualifies for a 10-year manufacturer warranty when installed together as Permanent Status
  • NanoPro Certified Expert application required

FAQ'S

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is ceramic coating worth it?

For a classic, collector, or performance vehicle, yes. NanoPro Borograph bonds to the paint and lasts years, not weeks. It carries a 10-year manufacturer warranty when applied correctly over properly corrected paint. For a vehicle with paint worth protecting, doing this right costs significantly less than correcting years of unprotected UV damage and oxidation later.

  • How long does ceramic coating last?

NanoPro Borograph carries a 10-year manufacturer warranty. How long it holds up comes down to correct surface preparation, correct application, and basic maintenance after. Applied correctly over properly corrected paint in Florida conditions, this product outlasts anything in the wax or sealant category by a significant margin.

  • Do I need paint correction before ceramic coating?

Yes. Every time. Ceramic coating bonds to the surface it is applied to. Swirl marks, spider webbing, oxidation, and scratches present in the paint where the coating is applied are permanently underneath it once it cures. The coating does not correct them. It seals them in. Every vehicle I work on goes through paint correction before NanoPro Borograph is applied. No exceptions.

  • Is ceramic coating safe for single-stage paint on a classic car?

Yes, when the preparation is done correctly. Single-stage lacquer and enamel require different correction techniques than modern clear coat. The coating application is the same. The paint correction process before it is where experience with single-stage paint matters. I have worked on both systems extensively. Every classic is assessed and corrected to the standard that specific paint system requires before the coating goes on.

  • What is the difference between ceramic coating and liquid PPF?

Ceramic coating provides chemical resistance, UV protection, gloss, and easier maintenance. It bonds to the paint surface as a hard layer. Liquid PPF is applied as a polyurethane liquid and cures into a solid-state film that adds physical barrier protection against road debris and stone chips. They serve different purposes and in many cases are used together. NanoPro LPF applied first followed by NanoPro Borograph is the complete system that achieves Permanent Status.

  • My ceramic coating is peeling or failing. What happened?

In almost every case it comes down to one of two things. Either the paint was not properly corrected before the coating was applied, or the product used was a consumer-grade coating not formulated for professional application. Coating applied over uncorrected paint will not bond correctly and will fail over time. If you are seeing peeling or failure, call me and describe what you are seeing. In most cases the paint can still be corrected and properly coated.

  • What is Permanent Status and what does CARFAX registration mean?

When I apply NanoPro Borograph over properly cured NanoPro LPF, the installation achieves Permanent Status under the NanoPro system. CARFAX registers that installation as part of the vehicle permanent history, documenting the work performed, the products used, the installer, and the date. CARFAX registers the installation. NanoPro provides the 10-year manufacturer warranties on both products independently.

  • How much does ceramic coating cost?

Pricing depends on the vehicle, the paint condition, and the level of correction required before coating. Paint correction is always performed first and the scope of that work varies by vehicle. Call me and describe the vehicle and the paint condition. I remain competitive in price but incomparable in the quality of product and service.
